Aaron Robertson is a negotiator. A relationship builder. An approachable, down-to-earth guy. A lifetime learner. The
kind of fellow you really can have a beer with or take to the ballgame. Whether you're a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian,
or independent.
Robertson is betting that this approach to the state's political climate is really going to produce some impressive
results. And why should he think otherwise? After all, it's this same positive mindset that has helped him become an author,
journalist, entrepreneur, and candidate for office all by the age of 25. It's this same outlook that has helped him build
friendships with people of all ages and all walks of life.
Since 2004, as he realized he was growing more conservative (mostly on economic and fiscal matters) while in the
middle of an internship with the downtown Milwaukee office of the John Kerry for President campaign, Robertson has voted for
both Democrats and Republicans.
If elected, Aaron Robertson will bring an independent, analytical mind to the office. He will not be afraid to blur the
traditional political line in a world that isn't always as black-and-white, cut-and-dry. And if achieving real results
means pulling near all-nighters, Aaron Robertson is prepared. The fact that he spent near all-nighters negotiating in simulations
(Model United Nations conferences) demonstrates his enthusiasm and commitment to service. Just make sure there's a decent
pot of coffee around. Coffee is Aaron's lifeblood.
"I am passionate about bipartisanship. As a moderate Democrat, I often times understand (but certainly do
not always agree with) where Republicans are coming from in their arguments. Because of that, I am able to build strong bridges--build
genuine relationships--with officials from both sides of the aisle. I am able to negotiate. I believe we need more of
this, both in the state and across the country. I realize many politicians use "bipartisanship" as their battlecry these days,
only to forget about it when they are elected, and that is sad. Hopefully, constituents who meet with me, visit
my campaign Web site, and read more about me will walk away feeling good
about my strong commitment to this principle," Robertson notes.
Readily admits he doesn't know everything
Isn't that a refreshing statement coming from a person running for public office? Aaron Robertson doesn't pretend he
knows everything. And that's why you'll see him regularly consulting with the experts who are working in the trenches: educators,
law enforcement, fire fighters, scientists, medical professionals, small business owners, farmers, economists, manufacturers,
tax professionals, attorneys, union officials, social workers ... you get the point.
Robertson is a collaborator who knows how to bring together people from many fields and industries with the know-how
needed to help him make key decisions.
Again, this approach just comes naturally to him. It's what has helped him come this far in life and career.
